Judith Herrin, Jahrgang 1942, ist em. Professorin für Byzantinistik des King's College London. Nach dem Studium in Cambridge, Birmingham, Paris und München war sie an archäologischen Forschungsprojekten beteiligt und hatte ab 1991 den Lehrstuhl für Byzantinische Geschichte der Princeton University inne. Sie ist Autorin und Herausgeberin zahlreicher Bücher zur Geschichte, Kultur- und Kunstgeschichte der Spätantike und des Byzantinischen Reiches.
